(SCI, JCR) 데이터베이스의 제공사입니다. 이 회사에서는 매년 피인용 현황을 근거로 노벨상 수상 가능성이 높은 분들을 톰슨 사이언티픽 수상자(Thomson Scientific Laureates)라는 이름으로 발표하고 있습니다. 올해에는 4개분야에 걸쳐서 17명을 유력한 후보자로
했습니다. 2002년 부터 시작된 톰슨의 예측은 현재까지 54명을 발표해서 그중 4명이 실제로 노벨상을 수상했다고 합니다.
이번에 선정된 후보중에는 일본 연구자가 2명이 포함되어 일본은 관심있게 지켜보고있네요. 우리나라는 총장님이 당분간 한국에서는 노벨상이 안나올거라고 해선지 아직 관심이 높지 않군요.
